Back pain, Thailand, & what I keep learning
So, I did it.
I finally booked my Yoga Teacher Training. I've been wanting to do this for 5+ years, at least, and it feels so surreal that I'm finally doing it.
After struggling to join yoga classes and flow through the sequences properly, because of my hand pain, I feel very excited to learn about the core of yoga and real ways I can help people exercise and move when they're living with daily pain.
I actually wrote a whole post on adapting yoga with chronic hand pain a few weeks back, view here, if that's ever been your struggle too.
I've tried so many different forms of exercise, yoga, weight lifting, running, swimming, pilates, and all have led to pain in some way. It's exhausting. I feel like every time I find something new that I enjoy, a new pain appears. This is honestly a big part of how I'm shaping Yōsei Healing.
Right now, I'm dealing with back pain. It's not the first time in my life I've dealt with this, I used to have back ache and bad posture when I was 13. But this is different, I'm older and need to be able to work, and it's hard. I started pilates, took too many classes too soon, and now I need to avoid it altogether until the back pain subsides.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'm learning how to exercise, how to keep moving my body in a way that feels good. I want to exercise for how I feel, not for how I look, but that's sometimes half the battle.
And I want to learn how to help others do the same.
In January, I'm heading to Thailand to train as a yoga teacher in Vinyasa, Hatha and Yin. It'll be a very personal experience, but I'm just as excited about what it means for Yōsei Healing, more ways to help people living with daily pain.
If any of this is speaking to you, I have opened up a few spots next week for my free 15 minute call, to discuss all things reiki and how it could support you 💖
