An honest story about pain, intuition, & how reiki helped
I had a migraine for three weeks straight. I was at a reiki workshop during a bad fibro flare. I hadn't mentioned to anyone in the room that I was unwell. My head was still very tender, very much in pain.
Part of the day was about developing intuition. Two practitioners would give reiki to one person at a time, following where they felt most called to go, no instructions, just instinct.
Both of them immediately went straight to my head.
I hadn't mentioned to anyone in the room that I'd been unwell and my head was still very tender. The feeling was so intense that I almost had to ask them to stop. But one of them moved soon after and the intensity reduced.
The next morning, I woke up and the migraine was gone.
I was going into the office and migraine, that had been there for 3 weeks, had finally lifted. I couldn't believe it. The fatigue had reduced and I felt the best I had in a long time.
I'd mostly found reiki healing to impact me in an emotional way before this. I knew it could help with people's pain but that hadn't really been the same for me, until now.
It showed me that reiki doesn't have a limit, it truly can lift a migraine, one that's been present for weeks on end. Since then I've watched 10 minutes of reiki reduce period pain for a friend. A short reiki session ease my sister's back pain. I've used self-reiki on migraine attacks and felt the pain ease, or at least stop progressing. It doesn't always look dramatic, but it works in ways that still surprise me.
That experience is a big part of why I created Yōsei Healing with chronic pain at the centre of it. Not only is this my lived experience, but after feeling my three week migraine lift within 12 hours of that session, I wanted to offer reiki healing to others navigating the same thing.
